How to order donor sperm – a step-by-step guide
Ordering donor sperm from Cryomate takes a few clear steps, from creating your account to receiving your vials. Hereโs exactly what to expect โ weโre with you at every stage.

Creating a Cryomate account is free and takes less than a minute. Once registered, you have immediate, full access to our entire donor catalog โ including complete genetic reports, fourgeneration pedigrees, family medical history, adult and childhood photos, personality and interests information, and audio interviews. Everything you need to decide, at your fingertips.
Choosing a donor is the most personal part of the process. Use the search filters to narrow results by the characteristics that matter most to you: physical traits, ethnicity, education, Open ID status, and more.
A few things worth knowing as you search:
- Use our ‘Eligible Country’ filter to make sure you only see donors available to your region
- Physical characteristics and personal details
- Check the availability status on each donor profile. A donor labeled “Ready to Ship” has vials available now. A donor labeled “Pre-Order” will have vials available in the coming weeks โ our client relations team can tell you the expected timeline.
- Save donors you’re interested in to your favorites so you can compare them side by side
- If you’d like guidance, our Client Relations team is available for free one on one virtual consultation โ and a genetic counseling consultation is available for clients who want expert input on the genetic side of the decision.
Donor availability changes over time. If you’ve found the right donor, it’s worth securing your vials while he’s available โ particularly if you’re planning for more than one child from the same donor.
Before placing your order, confirm a few things with your healthcare provider:
- Which vial type you need โ IUI, ICI, ART, ICSI โ based on your planned treatment .
- How many vials to order for this cycle, and whether to purchase additional vials now for future attempts or future siblings โ multi-vial packages are discounted.
- The date your vials need to arrive, so shipment can be timed correctly.
Not sure which vial type to choose?
IUI, ICI, ART, and ICSI vials are each designed for different treatments โ see which vial is right for which procedure.
Orders can be placed directly through our website or by contacting our client relations team. Our team is happy to walk you through the process.
Once your order is placed, our Client Relations team will be in touch within 24โ48 hours to confirm your details and send the agreements you’ll need to complete before your vials can ship.
The specific forms depend on where your vials are going โ a fertility clinic, or a home address for home insemination. Learn what each form covers.
Vial purchase and shipping fees are handled separately. Once your agreements are complete, you’ll receive a payment link for your shipping fees. Shipping is coordinated around your cycle and the date your vials need to arrive โ let us know your procedure date and we’ll work backward from there.
Shipping to a fertility clinic.
We ship directly to your clinic via UPS Healthcare โ a specialist in temperature-controlled reproductive material logistics. Our team will contact your clinic in advance to coordinate delivery.
Shipping to a home address.
Home delivery is available for clients using donor sperm for home insemination (ICI). A physician authorization form is required before home shipment.
Timing tip
Confirm your vial order at least one to two weeks before your procedure date, to allow time for agreements, payment, and shipping coordination. If your procedure is more than 30 days away, we can store your vials until you’re ready.
Your vials will arrive in a temperature-controlled dry shipper, maintaining the required storage conditions throughout transit. If your vials are being delivered to a clinic, they’ll be received and stored by your clinical team. If you’re having vials delivered to your home for insemination, follow the thaw and insemination instructions included in your shipment.
Cryomate is available if you have any questions about your order or need to arrange additional shipments.
Our buyback policy
If you don’t end up needing all your vials, we’ll buy them back at 75% of what you paid. That’s for vials stored at a Cryomate location, on purchases of three or more, and limited to five years after purchase.
